Elfie's litter by Costa Fabare Bohemia born 7th July 2018 January 11, 2019 06:56PM |
Elfie gave birth slightly early on 7th July (perhaps because of the hot weather). It was a litter of seven of which three are male puppies and four are female. Here is a picture taken within 24 hours of them being born. They grow fast. Typically they double in size in the first week.

Here is a picture of Elfie on day 2 with the pups. She does all the hard work right now continually feeding them.The pups eat, sleep and grow.

Day four and quietly growing.... They are not quiet as it happens. They can make quite a racket when they want feeding.

Two random puppies on day six. As they get bigger it will get more difficult to get them all into one photo.

Here are all seven of them on day eight. Their markings are starting to develop now. They will open their eyes in about a week's time.

They haven't quite got the hang of seeing yet but give them a few days. They now each weigh approximately 1.5 kg.

You can start to see now why it is becoming more difficult to get all seven into one picture. Outside on day 17....

At day 21 they now weigh about 2 kgs and today they have just started feeding independently.

When they are awake the challenge is to get them to stay still long enough to take a photo. Here are some of them at seven weeks' old.
