The litter was born on 5th March. There were rather a lot of them, eleven in fact, six male and five female. This is a picture taken on the first day a few hours after they were born. Not all the puppies are visible because some are hiding underneath their mother.

Here they all are in one picture on day two. They are asleep on a heat pad. At this age their noses are pink but will soon turn dark just as their coat lightens gradually to show the familiar GSD markings.

It is difficult now to squeeze them all in but this is what they look like individually on day six.

They are all squeezed in here on day seven or, at least, ten of them are.

And on day ten. If you look closely you might be able to see that their eyes are starting to open. There will be no stopping them once that happens.

At four weeks. Between the eleven of them they are now eating about eight pounds of meat and fish a day as well as about a litre of goats' milk.

You can find out what I feed them and where I get it from at the 'miscellaneous information' part of this web site. At this age they eat a lot of minced raw oily fish and different varieties of minced raw meat.

Here are two male puppies eating. There are only two of them because if there were any more you wouldn't see the bowl for heads. They are eating a mixture of minced oily fish, beef mince and some cooked rice.
